This book series is great! So much fun and legitimately funny, great pacing, fun little adventure stories and a unique way to learn more about Greek mythology. I loved the introduction of the new character, Tyson, a baby cyclops!!
While most of Sea of Monsters is pretty goofy and action-packed, there were a few serious moments in the book, which is what I need to keep me hooked on a series. These books really aren't as similar to Harry Potter as I'd first heard there being claims too, but I started to notice a couple of significant parallels toward the end. However, the writing style, characters, and settings are so very different from HP, so this series is completely original. This book starts about a year after the last

This 2nd book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series suffered a bit from the Sophomore Slump. I liked it, but it lacked a little bit of the magic for me.
It's like this:
Basically, the first book was wonderful because it was unexpected. I thought it was going to be a cheap imitation of Harry Potter, and though there are similarities of course, it held it's own. It was funny in a slightly edgier way, and Percy really stood out as his own character. I liked the self-discovery and the probl ...more

I was really hoping that this series would improve but its really just a series that doesn't hit home. There isn't enough emotional depth to resonate, characters are not developed enough to mean anything to the reader and while the mythology aspect of the story could have been great, it is used as it's "cool" thing...and not in any way but the obvious. There are two many after school special teaching moments, which are "told" instead of shown. While there are tons of wonderful YA stories out the

More great adventures and Greek Mythology. I think it's probably worth us getting the rest of this series.

Percy Jackson has nearly made it through 7th grade and even made a new friend Tyson. Then monsters arrive and percy has to flee for cap half Blood with Annabeth and Tyson. The camp tree has been poisoned and the trio set off on an unsanctioned quest to heal the tree. I liked the modern twist on the Greek myths and the twist on the Odyssey. Quite a cliff hanger ending so I look forward to reading more of the series.
So good!!!! Why haven't I read this book earlier. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next book. It is a good, clean series that anyone can enjoy.

A fun, adventure filled, action packed read. Truly enjoyable. All characters were lovable (even the annoying ones :)). Loving the ending so will definitely pick up the next one.
