This book series is great! So much fun and legitimately funny, great pacing, fun little adventure stories and a unique way to learn more about Greek mythology. I loved the introduction of the new character, Tyson, a baby cyclops!!
3.5
This 2nd book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series suffered a bit from the Sophomore Slump. I liked it, but it lacked a little bit of the magic for me.
It's like this:
Basically, the first book was wonderful because it was unexpected. I thought it was going to be a cheap imitation of Harry Potter, and though there are similarities of course, it held it's own. It was funny in a slightly edgier way, and Percy really stood out as his own character. I liked the self-discovery and the probl ...more

This is the second in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, which I enjoyed just as much as the first. This is unique from other fantasy series out there now due to its use of Greek mythology. Yet it is very modern and a lot of fun!

I’m really enjoying the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book’s, it’s a great adventure series, filled with Greek Mythology.
In this book Percy is almost done his school year in New York and it’s been surprisingly quite. That is until the last day of school when a game of dodge ball turns deadly, as the apposing team turns into ugly cannibal giants who throw exploding bronze balls. Then to make matters worse Percy can’t go back to camp half blood as it’s not safe, someone has poisoned the magical ...more

Percy Jackson has nearly made it through 7th grade and even made a new friend Tyson. Then monsters arrive and percy has to flee for cap half Blood with Annabeth and Tyson. The camp tree has been poisoned and the trio set off on an unsanctioned quest to heal the tree. I liked the modern twist on the Greek myths and the twist on the Odyssey. Quite a cliff hanger ending so I look forward to reading more of the series.
