Great fun, an adrenalin-rush extraordinaire with barely a moment to draw breath, just as you think it's time to relax the next wild ride begins. I felt my heart race increase reading that mad scene in the boats. Set in Peru in both the 19th & 16th centuries, the stories entwine & effect each other from the distance of time: the hero of the present is William Race, a linguistics professor, & the past is Alberto Santiago, a Spanish monk. A thrilling and engrossing fast-paced read. This book follows a linguist, Professor Will Race, as he is taken from New York to the mountains of Peru in search of an ancient idol and stolen weapon, called the Supernova. This weapon has the capability to destroy the world once a certain substance, thyrium, has been added and typically America has felt the need to develop and make such a weapon and then have it stolen.
