What strikes me most about this book is the narrator’s voice. First person, personal pronoun, plural – WE. To me, this is very original – the very first book I’ve read which uses WE as narrator, and one of the reasons why I like this book.

This book is about the five Lisbon sisters who committ suicide and how their male high school classmates try and understand their deaths years later. I chose to read this book because I had enjoyed the author's other book, Middlesex, so it seemed only fitting to want to try and read this one. And what a contrast the two are! Very interesting the way in which the girls lives were created from the perspective of those around them, looking back to their youth and the items they had scavenged from the Lisbon's. It leaves a sense of mystery and incompleteness of their lives but all wraps together realistically and tragically.
