Just didn't enjoy the read. Took me several attempts to start and then I forced my way through the book. Can't put my finger on anything...just wasn't my type of book.

This was alright. I didn't think it was brilliant or anything, but I didn't hate it. I feel like with books like this, people complain that the narrator is silly and fluffy and whiny-- like, yes, it's a fluff book. It's not meant to be a treatise on injustice in the world or anything. However, the bit in India with the super poor women is a little jarring, and some of it (like the obsession with her weight?) hasn't aged super well. Also, I'm not religious, so all the religious parts didn't move

I saw Elizabeth on 'TED Talks' and thought it was about time i read this book. I really like reading about her experiences in these other countries. I also love history and interesting facts so I found this information kept me reading.
As a mother I could absolutely NOT relate to the 'anti-children' feel of the first section of the book. But I'm glad I kept reading because I found the middle section about yoga practice the most interesting.
Overall, good book that you should give a try. ...more
