I surprised myself with how much I liked this book, because Vishous has been developed as some kind of weird, kinky character. But when we learn more about the brutality he experienced when living/training with his father, and his experiences before he joined the Brotherhood, it's hard to not develop empathy for him. Then he meets Jane, and there were the expected ups and down of their developing relationship, but that was the most bizarre resolution for lovers that I've ever seen! Dropped it fr ...more

Confronted with a new set of rules for his life, Vishous is resigned to it, until he is shot and taken to a human hospital to be treated. His visions had stopped, but the one of his surgeon seemed clear, he needed to keep her with him. These books continue to make me roll my eyes, as J.R. Ward could really use a good editor, but for mind candy they do the trick every time.

The book started out seeming very predictable. I was starting to wonder if they were all going to start with an injured Brother. But the latter part of the book made things interesting, but I won't give any spoilers away. I've discovered that it's the outlying characters that I really enjoy better than the couples in this series. Should be reading the next in the series in April. ...more
