What Members Thought
This is my first Toni Morrison and I have to say I am not that impressed. The plot was choppy. I kept losing it. I found her style lengthy. The story that was told in different points of view and different periods of time was not well thought out and just added to the confusion.
This is a book I've felt I needed to read for a long time. It was difficult for me, not just because of the atrocities of slavery that were portrayed with such visceral feeling, but also because of the magical-realistic nature of the overarching plot-line. I never did feel like I totally got my head around some aspects of that.
