this was one of the most confusing books i have ever read. fascinating storyline, jumps from different perspectives like poisonwood bible, and gives you plenty to think about. have a group of people ready to discuss this book with you whenever you decide to read it, otherwise you'll be swimming in symbolism and trying to figure out what morrison is saying more than actually reading the book (esp when trying to figure out beloved's perspective). but it just adds to the intregue of the book.
