And so my forays into the world of philosophy continue and while I probably missed so much in this book that others with a better grounding in such things would've seen (easily I would imagine) I really enjoyed this. Well maybe enjoyed is not quite the right term given the subject matter (although as a non-humanist(!?) Here you find many "abstractions" then again when you face a situation that is extraordinary you only have abstractions to fall back to, to hold on to, to reach out to.
It wasn't the happiest of reads, the plague is a morbid topic after all.
However, Camus's style and execution of multiple thoughts is to be lauded.

well this was hard work. Whilst the language used was not difficult i seemed to find the whole structure of the book bland and tiresome. It has taken me days to read as it could send me to sleep in minutes. I cannot say it was drivel, there were aspects that struck a chord but the whole was less than thrilling. There are some thoughts about power / government and the people that are as true today as they were.
