This is described on the dust jacket as a mystery rather than as historical fiction, which Penman usually writes. But surely it's both. Justin de Quincy finds himself working to solve a mystery for Eleanore of Aquitaine. It's primarily the combination of an medieval setting with interesting characters that makes Penman's works enjoyable, and this is no exception. It's a fun, easy read. ...more
