I love Rainbow Rowell's books because whether about high school students in the 1980's, a marriage in 2013, or a workplace romance in 1999, her characters are people you could know, or could be. This story, especially, touched me deeply because I think anyone in a marriage can forget exactly what made them fall in love in the day-to-day business of life with a spouse if they don't take the time to remember. A good author can write YA and "adult" novels without losing the "can't put it down" qual ...more

I love Rainbow Rowell and couldn't wait for this one to come out. It's good but didn't quite hit me the same way as her other books have. I like when she alternates between the male and female characters better, I think it helps round out the story. I love the way Rainbow Rowell writes! She has definitely made it to favorite author status. She has a way with words that resonates with me, and she writes the best dialogue.

This book has a fun premise, but it also tackles some serious issues many marriages face. It made me feel all sorts of ways; her books take me through the whole gamut of emotions. I know some were not fond of the magical realism element, but I liked it. It was a cute spin on the time travel trope. A highly enjoyable read.

3 1/2 stars. The book is insightful and the characters are instantly lovable. The magic phone does the trick for narrative purposes. I felt the use of profanity was excessive but for the most part I enjoyed this entertaining and often hilarious story of love and marriage.
