Creepy in all the right ways. The reader for the audiobook did an awesome job with this book--I'm not surprised I liked her here as I've also liked her as Red in Orange is the New Black and as Captain Janeway in Star Trek Voyager. In any event, I think hearing this book read aloud made it especially creepy.

This was an excellent story, extremely creepy if not outright scary, and the Easter eggs for Stephen King works within were a delight. I loved Vic and getting to follow her story from childhood through to adulthood was a very satisfying journey. She's one of my favorite kinds of badass; there were more than one scene that had me close to cheering out loud for her. I loved that she loved Lou despite knowing he was emotionally stronger than her, that she was his superhero.

A twisted take on never ending Christmas in Charlie Manx's Christmasland. It was suspenseful, funny, scary, and retro all at the same time. One can't help but compare Hill to his father and I often found myself thinking of Pennywise the Clown as Manx's character developed throughout. I also appreciated the small mentions of King's world throughout the novel.

This was a good horror novel. The bad guy was terrifically horrible and scary, but had a bit of charisma that made him more than the typical evil monster. There were some great supporting characters that were easy to root for. Although the beginning was a bit slow to start, there were definitely times (especially in the second half of the book) where I was on the edge of my seat. The ending felt very satisfying to me, even though it was not how I expected it all to end.
Vic McQueen is a girl who discovers she can ride her bike across a bridge and recover things people have lost. By using the bridge Vic learns about Charlie Manx, a man with a 1938 wraith that he uses to transport children to Christmasland. Vic and Manx's lives soon intersect. yes it is a horror book but also a great book about reality, imagination and love. The book is over 600 pages long but it zipped by. A great ending.

I'm not sure I'll ever think of Christmas in quite the same way ever again!
