Review coming up. Need to catch my breath first.
***REVIEW UPDATE***
It is no secret that I loved The Knife of Never Letting Go. I loved it too much that I had a hard time moving on from the despairing deaths and loss of my favorite characters. This is also the reason why I felt I needed a breathing space before I read the sequel, never mind that The Knife has a very compelling cliff-hanger ending.

I'm invested in the plot of this trilogy and will definitely read the third book to complete the story.
As YA dystopia goes, there's more substance here than in some books. There's real political motivations driving the characters and at least some effort at making the world internally consistent through the whole story. The villains are pretty deeply evil, but that's par for the course in YA novels.

This series was built up and highly recommended. Sometimes I hate that because then your expectations are too high. I think the series is ok and I am attached to the characters so I'll read the last book but it definitely hasn't lived up to the hype.
