What Members Thought

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and consider it one of my all time favorites. Jeffrey Eugenides' writing is poetic and thoughtful. I loved the story (most can't get past the subject matter), I felt the protagonist's pain and suffering throughout the entire book. I would recommend this book to anyone who could put the subject matter behind them and open their minds to a truly gifted writer.

This book was ok. But I really don't get why Cal was narrating from an omniscient point-of-view. Why did he know what happened to his grandparents and parents when he wasn't even born yet? Also, why did he know what was going on around Middlesex when he ran away? I think Eugenides picked a wrong way to tell his story.
I like the part with the Obscure Object though.
I would have given this book a higher rating, believe me, I love the story, if it wasn't for the illogical narration.
