Mi ci è voluto decisamente più di quanto sperassi a finire questo libro, non perché fosse noioso, lento o scritto male, anzi, ma perché è stato un anno anomalo, fra le varie cose, anche per la lettura. Ho letto molto meno del solito, pur avendo più tempo a disposizione e spesso ho iniziato libri per poi mollarli a metà strada. Jodi Picoult has this uncanny ability to write a passage of what seems to be insightful fiction and then suddenly, within the space of the last paragraph, make you think twice about the perspective from which you have read the pevious passage. Touching and worrying tale of bullying, its after effects and the need to fit in. The setting was Sterling High School but it could have been anywhere and with any age group. Even adults try to belong and in turn look down upon whoever is different. As a parent, I kept looking for clues for right behaviour but I realised all the parents in the book were doing the same and no-one had the answers.
