This is my first Nicholas Sparks book I've read. I decided to read the novel because I had enjoyed the movie and was looking for an easy, fun read. The story is good - albeit a bit different than the movie. The prose is awful! If I have to read the phrase "if you know what I mean" one more time... I'm going to shoot myself, if you know what I mean :)

I’ve written about “A walk to remember”, the movie, before. Since I liked the movie a lot, I decided I want to read the book as well, despite the fact that Sparks’ books are not primary on my reading list.

Liked it. *3.5 STARS*
I liked this one. I liked it more than I liked the movie I think except for one thing. I felt like the main characters Jamie and Landon had more of a connection in the movie. I just didn't see that as much in the book. I did feel more hopeful at the end of the book than I did in the movie, however, I was still bawling my eyes out. ...more

this is one of those books that have rave reviews and enormous ratings. Whilst it has a narrative that I am drawn into and a gentle, almost beautiful storyline it doesn't have the thing that transcends others and makes it into a great book for me. It is readable, it isOK I would not go shouting in the streets about how fantastic it was
