I practically inhaled this clever YA tale. Set in a high school boarding school, it could easily have been a vapid and boring tale. But the title character, Frankie Landau-Banks, turns out to be wonderful, funny, endearing, real, and angry in an uplifting feminist way instead of a teen-angsty way. I loved reading the escapades of the secret society she infiltrates and the way that she tackles questions of class and gender privilege. The book is smart and thought-provoking without becoming preach ...more

I had fun reading The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks . It was one of those books that kept me up until the wee hours of the morning, not wanting to stop until I’m done reading. An easy fast read - at the beginning, it almost felt like you're being told things in point form (Almost!) but it was okay, it wasn't exactly point form as such and it got things off real fast!

Frankie Landau-Banks is growing up and breaking out! She's feeling absolutely confined and is exploding from the inside out. I loved the protaganist of this book, of course she was flawed, but she was intelligent and thought for herself most of the time.
I hope my daughter has a bit of her when she gets to be in high school. I don't want her to be a criminal mastermind, but I want her to be a leader and not a follower.
A great YA book that can appeal to older readers.
