Sono stata più volte sul punto di abbandonarlo, devo ammetterlo. La storia non mi prendeva per niente, per più di metà l'ho trovato noioso e un po' inutile...si intravedevano spunti interessanti, alcuni accenni a cose poco chiare e misteriose, ma nulla che mi facesse voglia di prendere il libro per sapere come andava avanti. I know that with the four star rating, that it will be hard to believe how much I hated reading this book. For a slim little book with and exciting topic it seemed to drag forever and delve into so much teenage angst minutiae that I was tempted to just walk away.

After I finished reading it, the book haunted me, letting me know it was so much more than what it seemed. I felt so sad for Kathy and Tommy who while trying to figure their life out failed to see the real choices that were there for the

unique premise. My first reading of Ishiguro. It is fiction but so powerful is the imagery and characterisation that you get totally entangled. The way incidences of different stages of childhood and young adulthood are recollected, in minutest details, forces one to take a close look at emotions, relationships, their mechanics and interconnects.

I love Ishiguro. He's so good at portraying the inner workings of the human mind, the evolution and delusions of the self. I like how he plays with memory and perception, and how his characters turn things over and over in their minds—some teasing out wisdom and insight, some digging themselves deeper and deeper into the lies they've told themselves (or been told), the way we often start with our beliefs and then reshape our memories to suit them. The strangest book I have ever read - My initial thoughts are weird, depressing and flat, but alongside that hopeful and strangely addictive - the author is clearly a good writer but it was too slow, too frustrating and left too much unsaid, for my liking
