I've always loved the beatniks! I was in my early twenties at a bookstore and found a book called The Beat Reader. I read it and was thrilled to read about all their adventures, etc. I never did get around to read On The Road..Now, I did. I loved it. Yes, it was amazing indeed.

Wow...........I don't even know what to say or what to think about this book. I can say it was a long, strange trip! The CD narrator was excellent which, I think, really helps the story. Sometimes I thought, "I wish I were riding in a convertible on a warm, sunny day, speeding recklessly, and getting high, not a care in the world." There were definitely some laugh out loud moments. I so wanted to like this book, but I couldn't get into it. I guess I don't have the spirit of hopeless, aimless adventure the Beats did. I would like to understand the Beat movement, and I thought this would give me some insight, Kerouac being the "father" of the Beat movement and all...but I guess I need to do some more research...?
