I've heard so much about this series and wondered what all the fuss was about, so I finally decided to jump into it head first and find out for myself. I'm glad that I did.
"The Hunger Games" is an amazingly gripping tale of a young girl that takes her sister's place in a deadly game. I was mesmerized not only by the game, but the fantastic characters. Katniss is one character that I cannot get out of my mind; she's everything you could ever want in a heroine. The other participants in the game a ...more

I admit it - I'm a Hunger Games convert.
The story of Katniss checks all the boxes for a good read. She's angry but vulnerable, tough but naive and comes from the wrong side of the tracks. How can you not love her as a heroine? Some people have called the book "brutal" in reviews and maybe for YA fiction it is, but not for any adult readers. Suzanne Collins' vision of the future is nicely incorporated around the story, without ever feeling like she's going overboard. The characters are immensely ...more

One of the best books ever written, bar none.
THE HUNGER GAMES
I have to admit that at first I got this feeling of dejavú from The Uglies series...
still...way out of proportion^^
loved the whole idea of the hunger games and the world as it is...
so...Katniss(had a hard time remembering our heroine's name...but I think I've manage it) resuming has lost her father, mother too by not being able to trust her,and the only ones left for her are prim her little 12 year-old sister and her bff Gale...
they do EVERYTHING together...so when she finds hers ...more

The Hunger Games is book one in The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, a YA science fiction novel.
I’m a PNR/UF/F fan and put this off as long as I could due to the sci-fi genre. Wow, that was a huge mistake. This series should be classified as Fantasy and the futuristic feel is forgotten almost immediately.

This storyline is a little disturbing, dealing with children and war(think Ender's Game). Post-war North America. After a big rebellion the government wins the war and as punishment demands tributes from each district (in the form a a 12-18 year old child) to fight in a battle to the death. This book was very-well written. I couldn't put it down. The story draws you in. A few disturbing scenes. I hope they never make it into a movie!

This book definitely surprised me and now I need to know what happens next. I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did.
