Great story...much better than any movie!

I really enjoyed this book, much to my surprise! An easy-to-read true adventure. A bit dated in portrayals of the natives--but the English don't get off any easier. The parts about Tarzan learning to read are interesting, as are the times when we get insights into the apes' (admittedly limited) thoughts. Just a clever and fun story. ...more

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Really fun read.

Sort of struggled through this one. Not my normal fare (bookclub again), but since I love classics, I was really interested in reading this. I did enjoy it, but I had a hard time caring about any of the characters (except Tarzan). A lot of it was just really cliched to me (but that's to be expected) and the writing style was not very enjoyable to me. Glad that I read it though. ...more

A bit less likable than I remembered, but still a pretty good and very influential example of the type. Kind of a silly yet rousing tale of one man's adventure as he conquers all he meets...except love. ...more

I actually want to read the next one to see what happens next. It was a fun, fast, read.
