Ok, so I am really surprised this made The New York Times list of the ten best books of the year. It drew me in at first but then it went off the deep end and could not maintain a high quality for all the vignettes.
IMHO, Egan gets too caught up in being "clever" - I had the exact same problem with the later half of her book The Keep.
The Nobodies Album dealt with some similar issues and concepts and also came out this year - I liked that book a lot better. ...more
