What Members Thought

My disbelief refused to be suspended in the beginning of this book. It just didn't seem probable that this would ever happen.
Then in the middle I was swept up in it. Couldn't put it down. I was overcome by her description of the jungle. It was almost like another protagonist in the book. She made it real for me in a way that it never has been real before. That said, I was a little disturbed that the Lakashi never emerged as individuals. This book has left me in a state of wonder indeed. I'm not sure I understand where the writer is going. The only credit goes to Dr. Marina Singh, who was kept wondering until the last page.

Certainly a thriller and told in a deadpan voice which belies the terror underlying. Reminds me of Kingsolver's book about travels in the jungle. I'm not quite sure what I think yet, but Patchett's writing stands true. It's a page-turner for sure.
