Viva! Mariposas!
What a pleasant surprise! I read "How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents" last year and thought it was just an ok read. After my first experience with Alvarez I wasn't expecting much from this one. I wanted something easy to read on the train from Kansas City to St. Louis. What I got was a gripping story that has sparked my interest in the real Mirabal sisters. I give a lot of books 4 stars, but this one is trending toward 4.5 in my estimation. Beautifully written. I'm sure this one will stay with me for a long time to come.
