This is my second reading of this hilarious satire of English newspapers and reporters. I did not remember much from forty years ago, except that I found it so funny. My husband worked as a reporter journalist for many years and tells stories that corroborate the incidents portrayed in Scoop. In any case, since Evelyn Waugh lived in pre-woke times perhaps we should not criticize him for his lack of enlightenment.

I picked this book from my wish list on Ohio e-book library because I needed something to listen to on my road trip home from NYC. It was the first audiobook that was available.
It is a satire by Evelyn Waugh concerning journalism. What a hoot. And the narrator did a marvelous job of "acting" the various parts. Based on Waugh's time being a war correspondent. Still appropriate today. ...more
