What Members Thought

I enjoyed these essays, but I prefer her fiction to her nonfiction. She covers topics ranging from the role her three fathers played to the joy of discover kids' literature (the author Kate DiCamillo) as an adult. The title essay (and the longest in the book) centers around her friendship with Sooki, who she got to know as Tom Hanks' assistant, and who came to be a houseguest during her cancer treatment. i typically don’t enjoy essays, but i thoroughly enjoyed this book. the stories and narrating were both compelling and riveting. they were something i could relate to, even if not in entirety. love, life, marriage, kids. it didn’t get a 5-star from me because i felt the stories fell apart a bit toward the end. even the narrating fell it was jumbled around. not sure what happened, or if it was really the book. still, quite enjoyable.
