When I saw this was the next book for the BookCougars readalong, I knew it was the push I needed. It is quite a bit different from Flights by the same author, which was fragmentary and not so linear. Drive Your Plow is about an older woman in Poland who helps a neighbor with another neighbor who has died, and gets swept up in what might be a crime spree or might be the animals taking revenge. Tokarczuk won the Nobel Prize for literature. This is the first of her books I have read. It is a highly original book.

The plot centers around Janina, an older Polish woman who lives in a Polish village near the Czech border. She loves animals and has frequent disputes with the authorities about the mistreatment of animals. They consistently ignore her complaints. 3.5 stars. An odd little book.

I found this delightful. A very unreliable narrator tells a story about a series of mysterious deaths in her community. No one listens to her when she says that the animals are taking vengeance and also she is old and of no consequence. I think it has a few things to say about the invisibility of older women.
