Whatever you do, don't look for a synopsis of this book before you begin; instead,let the writing unfold the story and the characters for you.
I can't believe I only found Morrison a month ago but perhaps this was just serendipity - I am now ready for the depth of her writing. It isn't a quick and easy read, the story doesn't unfold in a linear fashion nor do her characters. I will concur with many of the other reviews from people who left this book frustrated. I feel that this had so much potential to be absolutely great(and parts of it were that I thoroughly enjoyed in spite of not liking it as a whole), but she made such an intense effort to make it something more grandiose, which was too obscure for me. Maybe one day it will all click.
