This isn't the best work about insanity from a literary point of view, other than the fact that this is Sylvia Plath and might mirror her own life. I found it disconcerting, not knowing which parts to accept as reality and which parts to see as her perception of reality. The disconnect between her life in New York and the rest of the book is clear, and points to the beginnings of the moving toward irreconcilable madness.
