David James Duncan’s new book, The Sun House, comes out next month, his first novel in 30 years, which finally prompted me to re-read The Brothers K, a book I first read and loved 15 years ago. And I'm sad I waited this long!

I've been meaning to read this for 15 years or something, and finally started a couple of weeks ago. The rollicking, sad, funny story of a family of 4 brothers, with younger twin sisters, growing up in the Northwest in the 50's and 60's. Lots of baseball. Lots. Very inventive, varied forms and voices. Only about 170 pages in--it's 650 pages long, so we'll see. ...more
