Every re-read brings the realisation that this book is outstanding....
More and more I see todays world in Orwells book...
Smith is a superb character and far stronger, in my opinion, than Big Brother. Orwell, however, suggests the futility of independent thought and action. It affirms that unity is strength. Something that Thatcher realised and tried to destroy [Miners - journalists - nationalised industries].
