while it got a bit better for me half way through, it still was just ok. i couldn’t care for any of the characters much, though i did feel for Mr. Biswas. all he wanted was to belong and have something of his own. a house. he did get his house, and in the end—i think—his peace.

A very flawed man in a very flawed world. Mr. Biswas was abusive, phsyically and psychologically to his wife so it's hard to see past that; his dream of house ownership seems as ill-conceived and ill-executed--although having a goal and achieving it is the American dream (especially owning a house). This is the first V.S.
