What Members Thought

This was excellent. My only real quibble is that I wanted more of Nell's voice and less of Bateson's. We have enough male voices in this world. I want more female. Still I loved reading it and dragged the last 50 or so pages out, so I could stay with it longer.

I did love this book, but I am having trouble giving it 5 stars. I finished listening to Euphoria just a few hours ago, and maybe I should wait longer to write a review as often a story will linger for a while in my mind and I find that it has affected me more deeply than I had perceived at first.

Another book about anthropologists in the field. Apparently this is loosely base don part of Margaret Mead's life. I have a lot of opinions about field anthropology and this is yet another novel to reinforce my thoughts.
So...this was OK but not great. I listened to audio on Hoopla and really did not enjoy the female narrator much, her style played into all of my feelings of field anthropologists as being pretentious and disruptive.

Anthropology as fiction is an imaginative concept, and King uses it to the fullest. I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration of foreign peoples and intimate - very intimate - friendships.
