2-1/2 stars. It obviously took much research and skill to write such a book in such a manner, but that doesn't mean it's the most readable thing ever written. I can only go through so many speeches about whether laughter is good or evil and whether purposely not owning anything beyond the clothes on your back is good or evil before boredom sets in. The monastic setting of this book is fascinating and in addition to being very educational, technically the plot is action packed with a monk getting ...more

It was an intriguing book that talked about heresies in Medieval Italy. I know absolutely nothing about the subject and was more than lost in the translation as I read the book. However, I found the subject to still be quite fascinating.

The most fascinating part was the ending, when Williams figured out who was doing the murdering and discovered why. The reason was almost laughable to me, at first, but then it made sense as the logic was explained by Jorge. Also, taking into consideration the ti

I love the middle-ages, monasteries, murder, and intrigue. This is a tale of alleged heresy, wrapped up in a murder mystery.
