Another winner from my favorite author, Karina Halle! This one was a prequel to "Sins n Needles" but definitely should be read after Sins and not before. This tells the story of Ellie aka Eden (as she is known in this story)and Javier, and how they first met. Javier works for the man that caused Ellie's leg injury as a child. Of course, Ellie has much pent up rage for this Travis character, and all she can think of is getting revenge. In order to get close to him she figures she will seduce one Another winner from my favorite author, Karina Halle! In order to get close to him she figures she will seduce one of his workers..Great plan, with one snag; she is a virgin! When she finally does get close to Javier, she finds out that her plan has turned out to be easier than she suspected. He ends up persuing Eden relentlessly, and they both fall into an explosive relationship.

Getting a glimpse into the relationship of Javier and Eden helped to make his pursuit of her in Sins n Needles a lot more clearer. I now have been given the full picture, and can also understand a bit more of what makes Ellie tick. I have to say that even with the full picture, I am still team Camden all of the way. At this point, I am still extremely skeptical of Javier and couldn't even be sure that Eden wasn't a pawn in his own game..I have my own suspicions about Javier, and they are nothing good. There were times where certain things he said were very romantic; but I admit I never fully trusted that what came out of his mouth was the truth. The guy is no dummy, and I just feel that he must have been aware that Eden was "stalking" him for about a week..A man like him wouldn't not see if a person was following him. I will be curious to find out in the second book if Javier was actually trying to set Eden/Ellie up for Travis.
The sex in this book is not lacking at all in the explosive department, although I will say that when he took Eden's viginity; it was not romantic. He was extremely rough and all I could do was cringe as I was reading their exchange.
I look forward to Book #2 in this series and I am hopeful that everything will be sorted out between the three individuals involved. I'm team Camden all of the way, and I hope he kicks Javier's butt all of the way back to Mexico! (Sorry Team Javier!) ...more

Karina Halle proves once again that she is an awsome author in this sexy and powerful novella about con artist Ellie aka Eden and druglord Javier. I loved this little novella unbelievable much!!! It's always more fun to love the bad boy. This book was better then a box with my favorite chocolate

I love to hate Javier! The get to know you phase (as Tom calls it ;) was super duper awkward and grossed me out a little. When it got rolling though, it kept up speed.

This was a really great book to buddy read, especially with a few non Javi loving friends ;)

I confess I didn't read the blurb nor the reviews nor the first book that was released before this little novella

But this is a story on itself. The authors manner of narration is so gripping it has literally sucked me into Ellie Watts world and the situations she finds herself, the emotions she projects and hides and the decisions she makes.

Whenever I read a book from Karina Halle I hear the song lyrics from Eve and Gwen Stefani Playing over and over in my head...Now let me blow your mind...she is supa dupa talanted that it's almost freaky. I know part of the fun of being an author is being as creative as you want but the fact that she can channel so many different characters and make them believable is what I think truly blows my mind! It's really a tragedy that she hasn't become bigger then she is....not for her readers of course because when that does happen (and it better)we will be paying more for her books but that is something I will be willing to do! I really feel her material should be on a different rating system because giving her 5 stars just doesn't sit right with me when i see some of the other 5 stars that I've given and regardless if she lists her books for $.99 or $9.99 I'll be buying them!

I had to get that out there because I just love Karina's work so much and am very passionate as a reader about it. :-) Now onto my review.

Javier.....Oh how I fucking love this man......but I fucking hate him too!!! He broke my heart. No he shattered it. WTF. There wasn't a good reason why. There will NEVER be a good enough reason why! How could he??? He just needs his own book. With someone else ending up as the love interest because Ellie and Camden are going to fucking be together and that's that. Yes, Javier has issues. Yes, his world is shitty but you know what so was Ellie's and she gave up her revenge for him and what did he give up for her???? NOTHING...ok I'm lying because I'm a little bitter, he gave up other woman, I'm sure he gave up a lot of his freedoms but who gives a shit? Ellie gave waaaay more. Hmmm but since she didn't cry like a little bitch about it because guess what??? Ellie is a lot stronger then she gives herself credit for he didn't see everything she sacrificed! It doesn't matter what was going through his head when he thought she was pregnant and then she wasn't because she was going thru shit too but did he care? No! Unless he has a twin brother somewhere there will be NO reason that will sway me to be team Javier. Even if he said they didn't have sex they just "touched" each other and that was the reason for the moaning and their nakedness I don't care STILL cheating!! Plus, it's one thing to cheat but for him to bring the bitch to their home, in their bed, and smile in her face and act like everything is normal? Go to hell Javier! How dare he chase after her like he still has a claim on her? But of course if he didn't chase after her I would be mad that he didn't track her down! Like I said I love him and I hate him but I'm still team Camden. When times get rough he showed her how he was going to handle things and he showed Ellie he would break her trust and her heart!! Who knows how long it had been going on or how long it would have continued. He could have said it was the only time but would she have believed him anyway? The other girl could have been told to agree with his story or she could have even been murdered for all we know since he is a known heartless murderer. ...more

Wow! This story has been a ride! This is a prequel to Sins and Needles which I have already read and it gave me so much more insight on "Ellie's/ Eden's relationship with Javier. I was beginning to really like them as a couple and then BAM.... My heart became heavy for poor Ellie. Javier better watch out as a scorn woman is dangerous!

I am eager to read the next sequel to see if Ellie stays with Javier for actual love or revenge.
