Jenny: Horrific. That was the first word that came into my head when as I commenced reading Escape from Paradise. I didn’t know a whole lot about this one, but the synopsis completely intrigued me.

This piece of work by Ms.Gwendolyn Field named "Escape From Paradise" is the best discovery of 2013, my friends...Loved this dark, gritty story of Colin & Angela... :)

Please tell me there's a sequel to this story.... Pretty please... :D I can't seem to let go of this couple yet... :P ...more

Wow, this was crazy good and intense and SCAREY because you know that this sort of thing is happening somewhere out there and it's probably even worse than what Angela went through, although what she went through was pretty darn awful! Thank goodness for yummy Colin and his ability to blend into the criminal world and his stubborn persistence, otherwise things might have turned out very differently for Angela and Colin's brother. i'm sorry but i didn't like this book much at all. i get that slavery is one of the worlds biggest problems. it's horrible and something that can happen to anyone but i did not like the way it was handled in this book and the rush job of falling in love within 2 pages for the main duo. is was ridiculous. the ending silly. first of all, her captor/rapist orders the bartender to give angela a 'special coke' and she's like 'oh its got cherries! that's what makes it special' WTF girlfriend? second, i'm sorry but i didn't like this book much at all. i get that slavery is one of the worlds biggest problems. it's horrible and something that can happen to anyone but i did not like the way it was handled in this book and the rush job of falling in love within 2 pages for the main duo. is was ridiculous. the ending silly. first of all, her captor/rapist orders the bartender to give angela a 'special coke' and she's like 'oh its got cherries! that's what makes it special' WTF girlfriend? second, for a vicitim angela sure finds the men around her 'hot' 'sexy' and talks immaturely about 'the most perfect cock in existance' a lot. pathetic. also marco stated at some point that he could never really 'break' angela why did she once colin saved her (rushed as hell might i add) and returned her home to her parents only to have her not be able to function? she's all should i kneel i can't eat unless you feed me? she walked around quite fine in the slave quaters with josef and the others, she fed herself quite fine while with perla. i mean, yes she went through hell and it's something you coulnd't ever imagine but she all of a sudden couldn't function. the cia psychologist came across incredibly unprofessional too. what kind of psychologist talks to a victim like that? and didn't she realise colin was a victim too? what kind of screening has this place got? 'you should talk too colin.' that's it? did the author do any research on this? because her dialogue felt forced and lazy. ALSO!!! how the hell did colin find fernando in thailand so bloody quick? nobody had heard or seen him in a few years? how does colin do this? is he magic? the main thing that really ruined this book was the end drama with angela's parents and marco. what the hell was that? rushed. as. hell. i felt that could have been fleshed out, even for 2 pages but it was literaly a sentence and then she's fine. the relationship between colin and angela will not be a healthy one. at all. no matter how damaged they both are. it just felt rushed. how this has so many 5 stars has me stumped. i must have missed something but... no. ...more

Wow this was such a good book! The synopsis did not capture my attention but after all my GR friends raved about this I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I did. Turned out to be one of my favorite books so far this year. Cant wait for the next one.
