Don't get me wrong, this is a totally different story (more along the lines of Leon: The Professional but not as good), but given the distant yet still noticeable similarities with a favorite series and my gripes against this book, I'm having a hard time thinking of what I liked ...more

If Sempre & Captive in the Dark had a love child this book would be it.

KC and I had in depth conversations about the character's names and their meanings. I won't go into full details so not to give any spoilers away.

Sarai: Princess (she totally was treated as a princess compared to the other girl prisoners)
Victor: to conquer; victory
Faust: fortunate; lucky
Javier: bright
Niklas: victorious people
Fleischer: butcher
Izel: unique; only one (thankfully there was only one of her)

I LOVED this book!!!!

Woohoo, yep...loved it! Victor is an assassin and Sarai sneaks into his car to escape a life of sexual slavery to her drug lord captor. And thus the story begins...

From here on out it's a wild ride, one I could barely step away from him. You learn very little of Victor until the end of the book (and even then...???) but you find yourself mesmerized by this mysterious, dark man. As does our young heroine, Sarai. Victor resists...and resists...until he can't any long ...more

A great, page-turning romantic suspense! Heavy on the suspense and slow-simmering on the romance, but there is PLENTY of sexual tension throughout! Victor and Sarai are a perfect match in so many ways and I enjoyed getting a dual POV. I would have been a bit lost with Victor without it. Lol!

Ms. Redmerski REALLY knows how to write "traveling" stories that are more about the journey than each destination, literally and figuratively. (I first saw her demonstrate that talent in The Edge of Never, wh ...more

I almost didn't pick this up, I thought to myself ' I want something light and fluffy' I am SO so glad I grabbed this book

It is AMAZING!!!!

It isn't light and fluffy, in fact anything but, it is dark and full of angst and it grips you the whole way through..

What a fantastic author!
If an author can easily take me from an epic tear jerking romance in one book and then on a suspenseful , "take no prisoners" , "survival mode passion romance" in the next book , AND keep me completely hooked in each one... Well... This is an author where I will clearly read ANYTHING she writes!
