Very Clever Ms. Fisher Amelie what a way to weave a young adult romance into something real, raw and so awful that many people have never heard of or care to. I hope more authors of young adult/new adult romance will take this model and write more stories with substance.
Ms. Fisher, in my opinion was able to combine the best ingredients of a typical love story and tie in some heavy life issues as well as true worldwide events into something that made me feel and fall de ...more

There is nothing more satisfying than opening a book, and knowing within the first 25-30% that it's going to hit your Awe-inspiring shelf. This my friends, IS. THAT. BOOK!
BOOK REVIEW: VAIN - FISHER AMELIE
This book only needs one word to describe it and that is simply, Extraordinary!
It's the only word that wishes to present itself to my fractured but awed mind. Yes, this book broke me. It took me on a journey that I wasn't expecting and as much as it broke my heart, I was also utterly enthralled ...more

This book was not what I was expecting at all bc the book description was so vague so I will give a bit of a description in my review.
Sophie Price is a self centered, spoiled, and immoral, yet incredibly beautiful, rich girl from L.A. She uses boys for sex, uses her friends to get things she wants, does drugs, and prides herself on all of it because it makes her the queen of her circle. You learn she is like this because she is completely ignored by her parents, and has never really loved or fel ...more

When I hear a Mat Kearney song, I can always match one of his amazingly written songs to a book that I have read. Here is a moving rendition of "Sooner or Later" by PS22 that reminds me of the children singing in Masego. {{chills}}

"Vanity's a debilitating affliction. You're so absorbed in yourself it's impossible to love anyone other than oneself, leaving you weak without realization of it. It's quite sad. You've no idea what your're missing either. You will never know real love and your life will pass you by."
BRILLIANT!!!This book touched me somewhere deep and I can't even begin how to explain it. My heart still feels like it's in a vice grip and barely beating as we speak. One of the best books I have EVER read!! This b ...more

vain is not your average story. Sophie Price is a selfish brat and lives the life of Paris Hilton. She was an awful person, but what was more awful was why she was. You could see the picture of poor little girl just wanting to be hugged. Its no wonder she was shallow, money replaced love in Sophies home. Truly sad. When Sophie is caught one too many times, the judge orderers her to do her sentence in an African orphanage. It was great turn of events here, never thought the author would be tak ...more
This book started off with a bang and a judgement of Miss Sophie was created. A rich, snobby, lacking respect, young lady must pay the price for her repeated poor actions. Her punishment turns into a well learned lesson that leads her down a path one never would have expected she would travel. Their is love, fear, anxiety, and heartbreak that leads to one hell of a happy ending!!
This book is another great from Ms. Fisher! I fell in love with her writing with Callum and Harper and she has not dissapointed since.
Vain is so much more than the synopsis claims, it gives a sympathetc view to the social awareness that comes over a neglected and spoiled wealthy girl. The journey of her discovery is heartwarmimg as are all the characters she happens upon along the way. She finds true love in all it's forms along the way and I felt myself loving these characters as well. As in he ...more

Had this on my To Read shelf for a while now and so glad I finally got around to reading it! Like so many have stated, I was unsure what to expect with this read, other than the fact it must be good because of the high ratings it was given and rightfully so. It was nice to live the story through a "bad girl" for a change. Hoping for a continuation of their journey as I'm not ready to say "The End" to Sofie, Ian and all the others.
