It's either I'm getting easier to please or June really might be my Epic Reads Month.
I don't even know why I'm trying to fashion a review for this book. It's impossible. How do you encapsulate the depth and scope of a love story between a 17-year old girl and a 22-year old Red Army soldier in Soviet Russia on the cusp of WWII? Between someone like Tatiana Metanova and someone like Alexander Belov?

This is a review for the unabridged audio version of The Bronze Horseman narrated by John Lee.
I have read this trilogy years ago, loved it, favored it, and was really looking forward to changing roles from reader to listener. I could probably listen to an average Joe read this story and I'd at least enjoy it a little. I mean, the material is all there. I really don't think anyone can ruin the author's style. My hopes were for a great performance from someone who would prove to have a good unders ...more

This is the first historical romance I have ever read. I am glad that I have been able to read and learn about such a powerful piece of history. As the story starts a young lady, tatiana meets a handsome soldier, alexander and her life, in that moment, changes. There were many times through the pages that I wanted to fight the handsome soldier and smack some sense into the young woman, but even still her courage and strength inspired me.
