Holly crap this book put me through the ringer!

I have been putting this book off. Thinking hmm it is really long and it is a historical romance.
Finally after all the rave reviews. I gave it a go..I did it with several friends on a buddy read.
I am soo happy I did, because I could not handle this alone.

I cried, I bawled, I laughed, I smiled, I was soo happy. I was the saddest I have ever been in a book EVER!

Help this is the best book I've ever read please go read this and dont believe anyone who says that this is bad. this is basically a modern classic.

This book is Epic, SWEEPING, TRAGIC, ROMANTIC, heartbreaking, REAL, Tender, all encompassing and filled to the brim with life.

this is on some Outlander level epicness its actually on the same damn shelf.

The Bronze Horseman. The most profoundly beautiful love story that I have ever read. Tragic. Sweet. A historical romance that reads as if you are living it. Tatiana Metanova and Alexander Barrington feel real and familiar to me, the reader.

Imagine the defining moment of your life. For Alexander Barrington, it might have been in 1930 when his communist parents, Harold and Jane Barrington, moved him from his friends and home in Barrington, Massachusetts, to permanently live in Russia. For Alexander Barrington, it might have been in 1930 when his communist parents, Harold and Jane Barrington, moved him from his friends and home in Barrington, Massachusetts, to permanently live in Russia. It might have been, but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that his defining moment actually took place on June 22, 1941 – the day Hitler’s Germany invaded Russia. The day that World War II came to Russia. Also, the very same day that Red Army Lieutenant Alexander Belov crossed the street for a young lady wearing a white dress with red roses who was sitting on a bench, humming a song, enjoying an ice cream cone while the rest of Leningrad was in a state of panic. When Alexander sat on that bench, it was the beginning of a consuming, powerful love that would span over their lifetimes in the lengthy trilogy written by Paullina Simons.

I am so impressed with this novel! The visuals that I received from the author’s descriptions of historic Leningrad felt so authentic – the white nights, the lilac and statues found in the Summer Garden, the bitter winter cold, and the poor living conditions of Tatiana’s communal apartment at Fifth Soviet. Communism. Her details of the German blockade of Leningrad felt true to history – the daily bombing, food rationing, extreme hunger, starvation and death. Loss of family members. So many people dead with no way to bury them in the frozen ground. This was reality during the siege of Leningrad. I commend the author for her ability to bring the realities of war, the desperate love felt between two individuals, everything straight from the pages of her novel to my mind’s eye.

Secrets. Plot twists. Angst. The Bronze Horseman. Although this novel is quite lengthy, it is absolutely worth every minute spent reading it. Savor it! But know that when you finish, the second novel in the series will be waiting for you – Tatiana and Alexander.

I am not really sure what words to use to describe this book, it has taken me away, consumed me, chewed me up, and spit me out. It has made me cry happy, sad and hopeful tears. About fourty percent in I was like this book is good but I dont get all the hype by fifty percent I was hooked. This book made me feel like I spent the summer away with Tatiana and Alexander and it kept me thinking of them long after I put the book down. I loved Alexander in this book and, honestly, I didn't expect that the book would encompass so much of the romance between the H and h. I also wasn't expecting that Alexander would be so alpha and possessive.

The author did a good job fleshing out the characters, main and secondary. It wasn't a boring read, although it could drag, but my problem was that I never felt an urgency to get back to it.
