I would have never picked up this book if it weren’t for the gushing review and multiple prods from my GR friend Aestas. The blurb didn’t sound like something my happy-ending romance, fantasy, pnr reading self would really get into. Finally! If you'll take a look at the day I first decided to begin this adventure, you'll see that I've fought it for awhile now. What a fool I've been! The first installment definitely deserved and lived up to the hype! I can’t believe I haven’t read this amazing series much sooner. One book read and two more in front of me. Ready – set – go!

I can't write a review for this. No review can do this book justice. Set in WWII, Russia, this is a story full of beauty, anguish, love, betrayal, suffering, strength, happiness and many, many emotions that I just can't explain. I, for one, hardly ever read a book that will break my heart just b/c I can't emotionally handle it. But Tatiana & Alexander's love and strength to overcome all the harshness of their world, pushed me along to finish this book. I will be reading the next book but I'll ha ...more
