“Who would have thought that a drag queen could be my ultimate male fantasy?”
Ok, ok, ok… now where do I begin… I LOVED this story. And I have to be honest, I had read the book summary several months back and it didn’t excite me. But after reading all of the fantastic reviews coming from my friends, and reading another LH Cosway book, I was ready to take the plunge. And OMG… I was completely entranced by Nicholas as his tortured soul!!!

PAINTED FACES
A truly unique tale of LOVE... this author showed me a world of beauty and love found in places no one could think there would be. Nicolas is such a lost soul. The people that were suppose to love him abandoned him, due to circumstances t ...more
What a beautiful story!
This is the story of Freida (Fred) who is a Irish lass that is one of the funniest characters I have read! She is a brash, outspoken, and loveable! Here is my Fred:
The story is told from Fred's point of view. She is a living in Dublin and working several jobs. She doesn't have great self esteem and is hiding it behind a "tough" exterior. Claiming to be overweight and a baker that eats too many of her own cupcakes. She had grown in my heart to be one of my favorite ...more

The author skillfully portrayed two unforgettable and endearing lead characters and told a fresh, surprising love story. The first person narrative voice was a highlight. I am so happy to have read this wonderful story.
I absolutely LOVED Painted Faces!! I don’t know why I waited so long to read this book. The story is not the conventional tale of love, but it works so well. The book follows Freda and Nicholas in their journey towards falling in love. Fred is an out spoken, curvy girl who hides her insecurities and shyness behind her witty ways; she has yet to find love. Nicholas is a handsome, outgoing male who also happens to be a drag queen. I loved Nicholas- he is beautiful yet broken, the loss of his mothe

I first read this book a year ago, and shamefully I am just now writing a review after I did a reread.
Painted Faces was an unconventional love story and it captivated me from start to finish.
We are introduced to Nicholas in the prologue as a young teenager. It is explained right away why he likes to dress as a woman and I understood him from the beginning. It was such a smart way for the author to introduce us to him.
The story is told from Freda’s perspective. Freda likes to go by Fred and ...more
