“Who would have thought that a drag queen could be my ultimate male fantasy?”
Ok, ok, ok… now where do I begin… I LOVED this story. And I have to be honest, I had read the book summary several months back and it didn’t excite me. But after reading all of the fantastic reviews coming from my friends, and reading another LH Cosway book, I was ready to take the plunge. And OMG… I was completely entranced by Nicholas as his tortured soul!!!

FIVE Stars!
“We all paint on a face to show the world,” Nicholas replies philosophically. “For some of us, that’s quite literal.” He takes a brief pause. “When you’re passionate about something, you don’t mind suffering a little discomfort.”
To be quite honest, when I first read the synopsis, I was a bit hesitant. I wasn’t sure how I would like my Hero dressing in women’s clothing. I like my men as men, like all rugged and pure Alpha male. But let me tell you something: Nicholas isn’t cha ...more
I went into this book almost completely blind, so the storyline caught me completley by suprise. It was really refreshing to read something other then boy meets girl, girl meets boy for a change. This was so much more, and I absolutely loved it!
All I am gonna say about this book is, that it is about Freda, a young, has-always-a-smile-on-her-face kind of girl. But under her happy facade and all her constant jokes, lays a insecure and vulnerable girl, who uses quick and snappy remarks to hide it. ...more

The author skillfully portrayed two unforgettable and endearing lead characters and told a fresh, surprising love story. The first person narrative voice was a highlight. I am so happy to have read this wonderful story.
Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love..
I’ll be honest I was kind of hesitant BUT intrigued after reading the blurb of this book. The prologue disturbed me a great deal that it had me clasping my mouth and made me unsure if I can continue. Some of the scenes reminded me of Jamie Bell’s obsession to his mother in the movie Hallam Foe. But that’s where the similarities end. This is an unusual tale of love wherein I found myself accepting, loving, crying, laughing, an ...more

4.5 stars. This book was fabulous!! You have to admire both Freda and Nicholas for sticking to who they are in side. Neither one tried to change to make the other happy. Nicholas is a beautiful man who had been hurt. Freda entered his light and brought him light. The way he treated her body should be the way every man worships a female body.

MY REVIEW:
Unique, Unusual, Unconventional, Uncommon, Unexpected, and Unlike anything I’ve ever read!!!!
I’ll admit I was extremely nervous about reading Painted Faces by L.H. Cosway. I kept seeing all these amazing ratings and reviews from people that have very similar tastes in books as I do, so I thought I’d see what all the fuss was about. You have no idea how happy I am that I took a chance on this book. I freaking love, L ...more

Oh my, I LOVED this book.
I've been putting off reading it for so long because I didn't think I'd be that into the drag queen aspect of it, but I was so wrong! I should have read this months ago.
It was written so beautifully and my only complaint is that I wish it was longer. :) ...more
