I liked this one, just like I liked the first one. But also like the first one, it kind if felt like it should be part of a larger book. I wanted to smack the crap out of Rush a couple of times. The guy just couldn't make a good decision to save his life. Even though, since we knew his POV, I knew how much he adored Blair, there were a few time I though she should just up and leave him. Abbi Glines doesn't know how to write a book that is anything less than amazing and this was another. This book was just as good as the first.

In this book my love for Woods grew a lot so I am really excited he is getting his own book. I liked him in book 1 but I love him in this book. To me he was the only constant in Blaire's life at times and the only person she could depend on.

I just love Rush he is so amazing with Blaire. He is so perfectly put together but when it comes to her he is a complete mess, which I loved. Poor guy was trying so hard to make everything work and the world was at odds with his desires, everything he seemed to do backfired on him. It was cute, and heart wrenching at times. 2nd read, Feb. 2025...& and I am still.
I realize what attracts me to this silly NA story, where Rush, the fine ass hero grovels and tries not to mess up for the the next two books, is the fact that he is gaga over her, overprotective (SANS his blindside when it comes to his family), and he and blaire make a cocoon of hot gooeyness when they are in their own bubble.

I was so excited for this book to come out! I just could not wait. I started this book last night and finished it last night. This book picked right back up where it left off for the most part. Blair's back in her hometown and Rush is back in Rosemary. Both of them sulking and depressed. They love one another so much but the lies of the past have jeopardize their future. Honestly... this book made me pretty mad. When I first finished it, I wanted to throw my nook against a wall; or hit blaire over the head with it. I wasn't exactly all for Rush from the end of the first book. As the male lead of the story, he was kind of lacking. I felt like the author had such an opportunity to write an amazing story about a strong girl trying to find her way, and a guy trying to be strong for her and himself. However, the ridiculous story we actually got was not even close. Ru Honestly... this book made me pretty mad. When I first finished it, I wanted to throw my nook against a wall; or hit blaire over the head with it. I wasn't exactly all for Rush from the end of the first book. As the male lead of the story, he was kind of lacking. I felt like the author had such an opportunity to write an amazing story about a strong girl trying to find her way, and a guy trying to be strong for her and himself. However, the ridiculous story we actually got was not even close. Rush was an incredibly weak man... and he never showed any strength. All he gave Blair were words, and promises of how he wouldn't let her down again... but then he did. Over and over again. Then at the end of the book, he sort of shows up; and we're just supposed to believe that now he must actually mean it. I felt as dumb as Blair was acting for even beginning to trust that he would be around.

Now I realize that this really is just a book, and I really shouldn't be getting quite as emotionally involved with completely fictional characters. However, I love getting completely immersed in a book. I love that feeling of connecting with the characters, when the book is great... it's awesome, and it can make you feel so happy. When the book is just okay, and has some truly heinous characters... it makes you want to punch someone in the face. I seriously wanted to punch Nan in the face over and over. I don't think I have ever hated a character, as much as I hated her. She had absolutely zero redeeming qualities, and then Glines tries to make us feel a little sorry for her, by having Grant tell Rush it's his fault she's so terrible, because Rush spoiled her all her life. Ummm.... no. Plus, there's a twist at the end of the book, and makes you hate her even more, if that were possible. There was no resolution with how Rush was going to deal with her, nor was there any sort of hint that Nan could maybe even become somewhat likable.

I've had very mixed feelings over Abbi Glines books, I wouldn't say any of them are really astoundingly great reads, but they are entertaining for the most part. While it hasn't been true with every one of her books, the thing that bothers me the most, is that Glines seems to enjoy writing pretty weak minded leading ladies, and pairing them with beyond immature, sex crazed guys. Now normally that's all fine, as long as the characters show some actual growth as people through out the story. Glines doesn't generally show that. The characters seem to play a ton of games with each other, and take turns either lying to one another, or treating each other like crap. Then suddenly one or both of the characters sort of stumble through an apology, and we're supposed to believe the live happily ever after. I don't like that the girls she writes always seem to be sort of dumb. They always completely rely on the guy to fix their world, and they never really stand on their own. Plus they always excuse some sort of awful behavior. It's mostly frustrating because the relationships she portrays in her stories are so far from mature, it's sad. She's gearing her books toward young women, and the characters she creates could really warp a girls view of what love is supposed to be. She never gives us actual glances into the actual true Love that these characters could develop for each other. Only glances into total lust.

Though I didn't completely hate this book... I don't think I could recommend this to anyone. Especially if you read the prequel to this book. I don't think you'll be happy with where she takes the characters in this story. Especially the twist with her dad at the end. It makes all of the drama she tried to create, completely pointless. I have heard that she will be writing a third book, so maybe these characters will have a chance to redeem herself. ...more

After waiting for months for the release of this book I felt cheated and disappointed.

Blaire seemed to have changed her personality, gone was the girl who looked after her ill mother and took care of herself. Everyone seemed to take the role of her protector, Cain, his grandmother, Bethy, Woods, Rush, the list goes on.

I ADORE Abbi Glines and the way she writes all these hot southern boys! She makes me want to actually visit Alabama, and Rush Finlay is no exception!! The sex scenes were smokin' HOT, and goodness gracious does he like to "go down" a lot (applause)!! The story sucked me in right from the start with drama and anticipation. I can't believe Abbi Glines wrote this. I am so disappointed :(

I did not like Rush in book 1. He was finally redeeming himself in this book and I was routing for him until around 80% when the book went to hell. Endings are BIG to me and I did not like this one, at all.

Woods, Bethy and Jace were the only worthy characters in this book.

I've been a BIG Abbi Glines fan for a while so it pains me to say this, but this book was not worth the read. ...more
