WOW! I haven't cried over a book like that for a long time. This one 'cut' me deep.
Natalie thinks she is in control of her pain, anxiety, and fear by cutting to release the hurt she feels inside. It's her living nightmare.
Without recapping the book...I will say that Marion summed up the book best, "That's one of the most beautiful stories I've heard in a long time."

5 heart-tugging stars!!!
To say that this book affected me in a huge way would be the understatement of the year. By the end of the book I was wailing 'I DON'T WANT IT TO ENDDDDD!!!!' while simultaneously hugging my iPad.
When I see reviewers or book blurbs describe a book as 'raw' I never really understood it. So I decided to look up the definition and three meanings stood out: 1. not diluted or ble ...more

This was an amazing story of two people that dealt with a lot of emotional issues. Natalie is a mother, wife, and cutter that still grieves her past relationship with Ryker. Ryker and Natalie dated in college and while Ryker served the National Guard. Through the concerns of PTSD and cutting these two battled heavy burdens.
At first I was taken back by Natalie and surely her worst critic, but as the story progressed I learned more of her struggles, her love for her children, and the will she has ...more

I’m an emotional wreck. I have puffy eyes. I’m a sobbing mess. But, I freakin’ LOVED every single moment of it.
The emotions the A. Randall evokes in her writing are powerful. While some of it is raw, gut wrenching, heartbreaking, and depressing, there’s also a lot courage, strength, hope, love and healing.
It’s so beautifully & eloquently written that you tend to find yourself fully engrossed in the story. A single phrase like: “I came for you” can leave you in a bawling mess.

Let me just start by saying I absolutely loved this book. It is one of the BEST books I have read this year. I loved it because it seemed real. It was something that you could relate to real life. Natalie's struggles throughout the book were heartbreaking because it seemed like she was facing one heartache after another and her only coping mechanism was cutting. This book was emotional in every way. In the Stillness is definitely a must read book.
