wow! That was so intense and Dark! I absolotely loved the story, or more like the idea behind it.

Oh my goodness, such an amazing story. It's still on my mind today. Overall, the writing is fantastic and the pacing keeps you turning the pages. The dialogue is witty and had me laughing out loud often. I liked the main character, and her dad was fantastic. Ryan was a definite hottie, but midway through he had far too few appearances for my liking. I would have preferred more of him and less of, say, the therapist.

For the subject matter there is a couple scenes that are not for the faint of heart....at all. Please research before you read this book.

I'm not going to do a normal review for this one. Not that this book doesn't warrant one, because it does.

Captivating. Chilling. Sinister. Sickening. Intriguing. And most of all, realistic.

Maybe I will come review in detail when I don't feel so emotionally spent.

What an incredibly powerful, extremely intense and eloquently written story.

The subject matter touched in this book is dark. It's raw. It will make you cry and want to hold your daughters when you are finished. At least, I know I do. As I was reading this book, I felt such an array of emotions. At one point, I even wanted to stop reading it altogether, but I persevered. I'm so glad I continued with the story.

This is one of the reviews I’m giving that is in the minority. I was very excited about this book when I heard of the storyline. Dark, twisted, crazy. Right up my alley, and although it has a strong basis, the direction it took ruined it for me.

Brooklyn she has one thing on her mind. Revenge. Her best friend, Beth, has taken her own life, and it’s all Brooklyn’s fault. She slept with her best friends boyfriend. This affair caused a string of unfortunate events to occur. Brooklyn knows Beth was raped by a boy at school, but was not there for her, her despair consumed her. And then it’s too late for Beth. But it’s not too late for Brooklyn to avenge her best friends death. The story revolves around Brooke and revenge, even if it costs her own life.

“You know, it’s funny,” Beth said. “Guys want a ‘good girl’ who’s pure and sweet and inexperienced, but then he expects her to be this rock star in bed. It’s totally messed up. It’s a standard no girl can live up to.”

Ryan is the outcast Beth has been warned against. He is mysterious with an obvious secret of his own. He is a skateboarder and a gamer, enjoys sex, and is too good at it. This is about as deep as he got. I didn’t understand him.

Beth switches schools to investigate Beth’s rape. She wants to make Cal pay. She devises a plan to take him down, but stumbles upon a big secret in the school. The swimteam has a Fantasy Slut League (like fantasty football) it turns out they’re playing her just as much as she thinks she’s playing Cal. Now, I can’t say too much without giving away the whole storyline, but this could have been a GREAT read. It had such a strong plot, but the whole thing fell apart. Brooklyn knew who the badguys were, why would she put any trust in them? If they tried to hurt her, why wouldn’t she turn them in? If there is a big list of girls that have obviously been hurt, why would a teenaged girl think she can fix everything on her own?

I truly did enjoy Brooklyn as a character, she was strong, knew she did wrong, and went through the proper grief stages. Ryan on the other hand fell very flat. I couldn’t figure out what Going Under was even supposed to be, a mystery, or a romance. The only interaction we really was in the relationship was sex. There wasn’t any growth. I live for dark romances, but I didn’t make the connection this time.

So all in all, I wanted to love Going Under. It had the makings for a great novel, but didn’t have the follow through. But with that being said, I will try this author out again, there was something there that kept me reading, I wanted to know what happened, I just needed a more believable story execution. ...more

Wow. SO good. SO SO good.

A HUGE word of warning. This book contains extremely serious subject matter and there is an incredibly awful rape scene that was VERY hard to read.

I am absolutely amazed that the author was able to dive into such deep subject matter in such a compelling way. This story is about grief, vengeance, perseverance, strength, forgiveness, and so much more. Highly recommend. It is so incredibly well written. Just be prepared for the journey you will take.

4.5 stars.
