“But I don't want to be fine, not if it means she's going to let go of my hand; not if it means we're going to go back to being polite strangers.”
There will be many that will read this book, hell maybe not even get that far, read the synopsis and be disgusted with the taboo love that Lochan and Maya share. I mean, we're talking about incest here people. Be that as it may, I do not care. I shouldn't be a fan of brother and sister falling in love, right? They are supposed to stay away from ea ...more

Forbidden is a tragic story about a taboo topic most authors wouldn’t even think to write about. I truly admire an author for even attempting to write a love story about incest. Normally, I wouldn’t even consider reading a book about this topic but I was intrigued. So many other reviewers as well as GR friends raved about this book. I truly wanted to see what all the hype was about. So I gave it a shot and decided to jump in on a buddy read for this…

This book piqued my interest after everyone in my update feed seems to simultaneously DNF it. WTF, right? But it really isn't for everyone. I actually wasn't expecting to go beyond the 30% mark so this review is actually a surprise.
The subject matter is obviously not your usual YA fare. The author's intent could easily be suspected as all for shock value but to its core, I believe it's more to post the question why a taboo is taboo. Now, I like my angst with a dash of dark humor as reprieve. Bec ...more

Thank you, Suzanne for being my support system. I wouldn't have made it without you by my side.
Just a little FYI: this book should not be read alone.
It’s completely heartbreaking and emotionally draining. Although the story itself isn’t beautiful, Tabitha’s writing is. For a controversial issue that rarely gets the limelight, this book leaves you feeling conflicted.

'Out of the millions and millions of people that inhabit this planet, he is one of the tiny few I can never have. And this is something I must accept - even if, like acid on metal, it is slowly corroding me inside.'
Forbidden is not only beautifully written but it is incredibly brave - albeit atmospherically dark and sombre, at the core is a story of love, family and strength encasing the heart of this tale with a real sense of beauty. This is a story about finding love in the most unlawfu ...more

It's been like five months since I read this book and I still remember it. So, that always deserves an extra star from me. I DEFINITELY would not list this under a YA book. It's a dark erotica - no romance. I had to add some bookshelves I thought it should go under.
Those of you that like emotional, dark subject matter, Oh Hell I can't believe this, kind of books, you'll probably enjoy this book.

This was a beautiful story linked to one of the most disturbing topics ever!! Between the family struggles, lack of support, sibling disobedience, and no where to turn...these two selfless creatures found comfort in one another. By no means do I condone what they did, but the way the story was written my heart broke for the what ifs of the future. I was touched by the devotion of the couple and the will to fight for what they loved...each other. I stayed strong through most of the story, but aft
