This book was the most heartbreaking stories I've ever read.

While the subject matter was something I never thought I could read I'm so pleased (if that's the right word) I delved into this story and couldn't believe that I was actually willing these two onto happiness.

I hoped and prayed that life would deal this family a break and wanted them to find some happiness.

This story broke me. It broke my heart. And even then I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

This book is without a doubt one of the most difficult for me to review. Every time I think about this book I am thrust once again into the spiral of heartbreak and sadness that comes with reading this. I deliberated, and started to type this review about five times and even though much of what I may mention here won't make sense, just know that its all coming directly from the organ beating deep in my chest.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. When I read the synopsis I was a little worried about the subject matter. I didn't know if I could handle reading about a brother and sister falling in love. Would I be disgusted? Horrified? I didn't know. But I thought it would do me good to step out of my comfort zone for once and I'm really glad I did. So if you read the back of this book and don't think you can handle it, just give it a go. This book is not cheaply written, it's not just about a brother and his sister having sex or anything you might presume it will be. It is so much more than that.

This is the story of Lochan and his younger sister Maya. Their father ran off with a new woman when Locan was Twelve and their mother is rufusing to acknowledge that she has Five children to look after. Lily is an alcoholic that blames her crappy life on the children she claims she never really wanted. If Lochan and Maya don't want their Three younger siblings to go into care they have to pick up their mothers slack, lie for her and defend her so the younger children are protected from her disgusting behaviour. They are pretty much the parents now, picking them up from school, looking after the house, feeding them and clothing them all. They share the stress, worries and resposibility of all parents. All the things that a couple would usually face together.
Lochan has very bad anxiety issues and struggles to cope with life outside of his home. He hates that he has to be the father figure to the house, when all he wants to do is be is their friend and brother. Maya is the only one he can talk to, share all the burdens with. He can be himself around her and all the anxiety he faces with daily life fades away. He loves her, wants to protect her and keep her safe. That is where the lines start to blur for them both.
Maya is the same. She struggles with the life they both have to lead. She wishes she could just be a kid. Her entire life has been so closely bonded to Lochan. They are only Thirteen months apart and have shared more than many people their age. She knows that she could never have coped without Lochan there to support her and she knows that will never cope again if he ever leaves her. She also wants him to be happy and the thought of someone else loving him, kissing him and the possibility of them breaking his heart becomes unbearable. That is where the lines blur for Maya.
Slowly but surely they are drawn closer together, the blurry lines fading away completely.
This book really was incredible. I have no words that could possibly explain (well enough) how I feel after finishing it today. I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. This is a devastating story of family, friendship, love and heartbreak. You will never read another book quite like this one. I will warn people that if you are looking for a happy ever after, this is not the book for you. However if you can keep your mind open I would deffinatley recommend this book to you. ...more

Wow! This book left an imprint in me and I will never forget it. Definitely have an open mind when reading this story b/c the love in this book was beautifully written.

I'm speechless... This is the best & the worst romance that I've ever read because it made me cry like a baby for the first time... I've never cried this much in my entire life of being a "book-addict"..It's already been a full day since I finished this book & still can't get this story out of my head...
