I love writing the number 5!! Not 4.5 or 4.7 it is a 5!!! I sooo loved this book and only had 2 problems with it.
1. I am now at an impasse on my favorite book of all time with this being tied with City of Ghosts.
2. I have no more Downside books waiting in the wings to save me from a slump!
I’m really not even sure about how to go about a review for this book. If you are reading Chasing Magic you already get what it is going to be about. I loved that for most of the book there is not that triangl ...more

I love being in Downside, which is quite honestly a very odd thing to say. It's such a dark, lonely, hopeless place. But my goodness, what a world! Every time I read another in this series, I'm just blown away. Something about these characters is so endearing, even with all of their faults.
In Chasing Magic, Chess and Terrible are once again tested in their relationship. Let me tell you, there are some nail biting moments in which I wasn't quite sure if Chess was going to make the right decis ...more

Gosh, I have no words to express my love for this one. It is, by far, my favorite installment of this series and... Terrible. I can't even think straight just envisioning all the Chess and Terrible moments this book had...not to mention higher stakes, zombies, and a lot more positive character growth on Chess's part. Stacia Kane somehow manages to write such unique and different characters - one a drug addict and one a killer - and still make them realistic, relatable, and sit ...more

1st book of the year.. I hope it isn't the best, but to be honest, I'm not sure how we can top it up!
What a book!!!!
The Downside series have become my favourite series out there.
It's complicated, full of emotions, sad and funny, intense, unpredictable.. I love it so much.
The first half, I read it as a "welcome back to the series", it was a breath of fresh air. The following part was a blink. So much was happening, full of tensions
and the end..

As always....Brilliant!!!! 10 stars, if only there was such a thing!
I don't think it's humanly possible to squeeze in more action, emotion, and magic into one book. Chasing Magic held true to, and exceeded everything I've come to expect of this amazing series. How the author manages to repeatedly capture human character and emotion so perfectly, is just beyond me. Not to mention, the violent whirlwind of a plot that kept me glued to my seat until the very last sentence.

I am so glad I read this series. I was a little hesitant at first but once I got into the rich and unique characters, urban fantasy/supernatural storyline and became so deeply in love with Terrible, I could not stop reading until I finished all five books including a novella, Home 3.6. I checked Stacia Kane's website and am happy to learn there will be more happenings in Downside, Dig?

Now, I know I say this with every single Downside book but I have to say it again anyway.
Oh my God, I love this series!
As the books come and the years pass, I still haven’t found anything quite like it and that’s why I love it so much.
Terrible is still one of my all-time favourite hero’s. I grow to love him more and more with every book, every heart breaking, soul wrenching comment he makes to Chess. He’s such a wonderful character, one that makes laugh and smile my ass off but also manages ...more

I don't need to say much about this book. If you've read this series up to this point, just expect the same amount of grit in this book as well. Chess still makes mistakes which is frustrating but things seem to end well as much as it could in the Downside world.

Wooooah.. I believe goodreads has deleted my review because this is the best book I've read in 2013, the first one as well and I'm pretty sure I had loads to say about it!
