The story was...almost. However, I neither liked nor disliked the love interest. Honestly, all I remember are the ripped panties, despite the heroine's incessant plea that she's a smart business woman.

He was a bastard and she was a "hungry for beautiful abstract sex" seemingly ambitious intern. No depth. That about sums it up. ...more

There were at least 30 pages that didn't need to be in the book. In the first half of it I was thinking this book is so good but as I continued to read I started to get annoyed, once they realized they love each other they started to tell it constantly - I love you and I love you too and it was a bit too much and I think there was a lot of useless information.

I'm late to this party. I've heard quite a bit about this series, and it never really appealed before I read another by this writing duo.

I guess this one started as a fanfic. Probably of the 50 Shades books. Not sure. It was certainly over the top with the gratuitous sex. The story came on slowly and mostly towards the end. I must admit, at the beginning I was a bit skeptical about reading this book. I wasn't sure how I would feel about reading a book involving a rich, sexy bastard that, from all the other reviews, seemed to mimic the likes of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. But let me be the first (or second, or third) to tell you, this is nothing like the FSOG.

Beautiful Bastard had me smiling and laughing almost throughout the entire book. Bennett Ryan and Chloe Mills are the epitome of a dysfunctional relationship, giving sexual harassment in the workplace a whole new meaning. In fact, I haven't seen a relationship this dysfunctional since Avoiding Commitment, Avoiding Responsibility, and The Opportunist....sans the angst level of those books, yet it still gripped me enough that I couldn't put it down.

The first scene in the book had me jumping back a Beautiful Bastard had me smiling and laughing almost throughout the entire book. Bennett Ryan and Chloe Mills are the epitome of a dysfunctional relationship, giving sexual harassment in the workplace a whole new meaning. In fact, I haven't seen a relationship this dysfunctional since Avoiding Commitment, Avoiding Responsibility, and The Opportunist....sans the angst level of those books, yet it still gripped me enough that I couldn't put it down.

The first scene in the book had me jumping back and thinking, Wow! What is this? Is this a dark read?! My next thought was one of consensual rape, if there is such a thing. But I was wrong on both counts. There is so much anger between the two main characters, but that was simply foreplay for something bigger, steamier, and pantie dropping hawt! I was merely a melted puddle on the floor during most of the reading, but I loved every splashing minute of it!

Bennett Ryan is the definition of infuriating. There is nothing nice about this businessman, and the target of his defective personality is none other than his intern, Chloe Mills - who also just happens to be the object of his sexual fantasies. It doesn't help matters that his family loves and adores her. While Bennett is gorgeous, tattooed, successful, and sexy; he is completely opposite to his sweet brother and father in the business place. He is simply the beautiful bastard...to everyone!

Chloe Mills is an intern working on her MBA. She is business savvy and smart, knowing her way around the board room. What she didn't expect was to find her way around the boardroom in a compromising position. She wants to climb the ladder of success, but the last thing she wants or needs is for others to perceive her success as the result of sexual favors with her boss. She is one strong heroine who gives back as good as she gets! Bennett Ryan doesn't stand a chance against her.

When Bennett finally breaks the no fraternization policy at the office by losing control with Chloe, these two enter into the most defective relationship of any couple I've ever read. They feed off their anger and hatred toward each other. This is truly their foreplay into some of the hottest sex that had my iPad smoking! I felt like I needed a cigarette after reading some of these passages!

"For some reason, the two of us arguing was like some sick form of foreplay." ~ Bennett

Not only was their anger the foreplay into some some of the hottest sex in the book, that angry sex was their own personal form of communication.

"We couldn't speak through words, because words only led to trouble. But this? This is what we were..." ~ Bennett

"I had never felt this way, and I had never expected to feel this about him. I wanted to slap him, and then pull him up by his shirt and lick his neck." ~ Chloe

Knowing what they were doing would have major reprocussions, they were addicted to each other. They couldn't stop! One argument is all it took. Their battling inner-monologues were hilarious as they tried to sort out a way to recover from their addiction to each other. That wasn't as easy as they thought it would be...especially when he has a penchant for pantie ripping, and she wears the sexiest La Perle he's seen! He is simply the pantie collector - as long as they are Chloe's panties. Now most couples have a song to signify their relationship. Bennett and Chloe? Pantie ripping was their song...and it was a top 40 hit!

"These are almost too pretty to ruin, " I said, wrapping one strap around each hand. "Almost." With a quick tug they broke easily, allowing me to pull the pink material away and stuff it into my pocket.

Beautiful Bastard is one of those books that I have to place on my must re-read shelf. Christina Lauren has written a novel full of fun, romance, and steam with strong characters and a sweet romance in the midst of all that anger. The slow development of the romance was engaging and beautiful. It was as though I could see the wrinkled brow of anger smoothing on Bennett's face. He expressed so much compassion for Chloe, knowing exactly what she needed when she was her most scared. She knew how to care for him when he couldn't care for himself. Together, they are TNT...apart, they are desolate. Bennett is definitely worthy of my book boyfriend status and Beautiful Bastard is definitely worthy of a high place on the must-experience-this-book shelf. Although this one is the first in a series, there is no cliffhanger to keep me on edge until the sequel comes along. I am completely satisfied and happy as I wait for book #2 in the Beautiful Bastard series. I can easily mark this one as a fun and fast read. With that said, I must admit that there isn't really a plot nor are the characters (strong as they might be) really developed, so you be the judge. If you are looking for a deep story with literary value, this might not be the book for you. If you are looking for a fun and fast story that will entertain you, Beautiful Bastard is the book. 4.5 stars

This on was really fun the banter between Mr. Ryan and Ms. Mills was expressed with words and their bodies. These two are a matched made somewhere, they are both feisty and strong willed. The chemistry between the two is scorching one of them may get burned. Really a fun read, these two were just fun to watch as they tried to figure each other out and what they truly wanted from the other. 4.5 stars
